November 2017

The Annual General Meeting

Group photo3rd Nov: The first meeting in November is always the AGM to elect the Committee for the next 12 months.

But AGMs can be a bit boring. So our Chair, Nigel M0ICH, delivered the review of 2017-2017 in the style of “What has the Committee ever done for us?“.

Of course it was all pre-planned, but every time he completed one topic, such as “field days“, and began to walk off, someone would call out another topic, “What about Target Nite?” and he would talk about the organisation for those events before trying to walk off again and getting called back. The point being, there’s a load of work that goes into keeping the club running.

17th Nov: This is TARGet Nite, the second regular monthly meeting where the emphasis is on practical assignments. About 30 members were involved in a range of different activities.

Upstairs two members were taking their theory Foundation Paper having completed their practical assessments at the previous TARGet Nite. We are delighted to congratulate Rachel (left) and Jacky (right) on passing the exam. They will have their new M6 call-signs in time for Christmas. Also shown is Mark M0IEO (Senior Training Manager).

Downstairs projects included; Soldering, Using an Oscilloscope to demonstrate filtering of an oscillator, building an “balun” (bottom photo), small group discussions and all supported by a big supply of home made cakes. Also, next years Training Dates have been confirmed – see Training Page.
