October 2017

Photo of CW boot camp21Oct: Picture shows three of five members of TARG who attended the Essex CW (Morse Code) Boot Camp on Sunday 21st October. The day’s activities attracted candidates from Essex and beyond.

There was practice at sending and receiving in three different groups depending on speed and all delivered in a non-competitive fun format. Also lectures on lesser known aspect of CW, on air QSO’s and prizes too!

06Oct: This month we didn’t have one speaker – we had two! First up was Fred 2E0FRE who teaches Health and Safety for a living, with a follow up to questions raised at  the meeting earlier in the year when we did our fire drill.

He was followed by Bejoy 2EOKFB (photo), TARG tutor, who demonstrated a clever training aid he built having been inspired by his father who was a physics teacher.

The October TARG net (open to all licenced amateurs) is on Fridays 8pm (GB3DA) when there is no club meeting. The controller will rotate between members and there was an optional practice at the 20th Oct TARGnet nite.

01Oct: Another round of candidates passed our Foundation Licence Course this weekend. All five candidates (including one who travelled from Macclesfield) got through the practical and exam to the delight of all concerned. This course was a special occasion for TARG as it included the 100th candidate since the club began training; that honour goes to Sureshkumar Vellaichamy (2nd from right).
