Training with TARG

TrainingTARG believe the best training will always be delivered in a face-to-face environment where tutors can test understanding and candidates can ask questions with immediate answers. Our popular one weekend Foundation Courses are particularly appealing to people who are able to do some preparatory study and then sit the exam after two days of intensive training.

We continue to offer one-to-one tuition as a supplement for candidates with Dyslexia or otherwise struggle with internet based material and will arrange paper-based exams with an accredited assistant for candidates with reading difficulties. We also offer one-to-one mentoring for candidates who struggle with an aspect of the learning they find difficult; eg maths or circuit diagrams.

Our package is more than just passing the exam; it introduces people to the wider aspects of the hobby and prepares them for the next level. Since 2013 Thames Amateur Radio Group has provided training to over 100 candidates culminating in them sitting the RSGB examination at the club premises.

  • Foundation: An intense 2 day course held over one weekend.
  • Intermediate: An intensive four day course, held over two consecutive weekends.

All course materials are provided, except text books which students are encouraged to purchase in advance, and refreshments are provided throughout the day. The cost includes the RSGB examination fee, materials and refreshments.

All our trainers have completed the RSGB “Train the Trainers” Course. With so many qualified trainers we can provide group and one-to-one support. It allows for a variety of presentation styles to aid the different types of learning needed for our students.

FAQ: Do I have to be a TARG member? No. Many people who complete our training are impressed by the club and then decide to join TARG but there is no requirement or exception of membership.
