Training with TARG

Photo of Foundation BookTARG believe the best training will always be delivered face-to-face where tutors can test understanding and candidates can ask questions with immediate answers. Our weekend Courses are very popular so register your interest as soon as possible.

We continue to offer one-to-one tuition as a supplement for candidates with Dyslexia or otherwise struggle with internet based material and will arrange paper-based exams with an accredited assistant for candidates with reading difficulties.

Our package is more than just passing the exam; it introduces people to the wider aspects of the hobby and prepares them for the next level. Since 2013 Thames Amateur Radio Group has provided training to over 120 candidates culminating in them sitting the RSGB examination at the club premises.

  • Foundation: An intense 2 day course held over one weekend.
  • Intermediate: An intensive four day course, held over two consecutive weekends.

Intermediate Book

All course materials are provided, except text books which students are expected to purchase and read in advance (but not necessarily understand!) and refreshments are provided throughout the day. The cost includes training, RSGB examination fee, materials and refreshments.

FAQ: Do I have to be a TARG member? No. Many people who complete our training are impressed by the club and then decide to join TARG but there is no requirement or exception of membership.

Training dates :

Important: Candidate details must be given to the RSGB 10 working days before the date of the exam. The exam is on the last day of the course. So, you must book your place on our training at least two weeks before the date of the exam; but note courses fill up very quickly to register as soon as possible.

The dates for 2020 will be published after 15th Dec 2019
